Unidek Launches The Next Generation Roofing SIP (AERO)

 01 Aug 2009

Unidek have been developing the next generation roofing SIPS for over 6 years as a natural progression from the long established traditional SIP in the Netherlands which has been in production for some 30+ years.

Product Manager Arjan van Gils explains that "we are always looking at new ways to improve our existing offerings" and once again we have developed a new product called Aero to radically improve upon the existing technology for the UK market that takes account of the Y and Psi values so important to robust design and sustainability.  This patented design has strategically placed timber supports incorporated within the panel instead of utilising the structural members at each side and is still capable of spanning up to 5.5 meters unsupported, with traditional roof coverings. It eliminates any form of cold bridging completely whilst remaining totally structural and extremely strong.

This new development reduces the timber content within and therefore lowers the U-vale quite considerably to an average figure of 0.14W/m2K as a standard offering.  Obviously Unidek can manufacture to even lower levels should this be required and will complete a thermal analysis for each project.

The product can also be offered in 1 thickness but 3 different U values due to the offering of EPS, Platinum EPS and PIR as a typical option. With an A+ for the green guide, zero ODP and zero GWP, 100% recyclable and up to 50% recycled content, this is yet another major innovation to endorse the company’s proud position and to underpin the company’s strap line of being Europe’s favourite SIPS technology.
